Inside a snow shelter

Have you ever wondered what it's like inside a snow shelter? Well, here it is. Your back is up against a wall of snow, your head is leaning on a wall of snow, your feet are touching a wall of snow, your door opens to the breeze that's swirling around zero degrees wind chill....it's so awesome. Wish you call could try it!!!

Winter Packing

This is what it looks like when you get ready to go camping in the woods in winter. Load up two packs each, very heavy, extra gear and food, lots of warm socks, must be icebreaker socks :)....then head off into a secluded area, build a shelter and crawl in.....

Hanging Out on a Winter Day

After a long walk in deep snow, it's nice to sit and relax by a beautiful river. It's nice to get away from the real world, all of it's pressures and responsibilities and just let your mind soak in all the sounds and sites of nature, the way God intended life to be lived. Even if it's only for a day or a week, it's a re-energizing experience.

Resting after Snowshoeing

We were enjoying some great snowshoeing hikes. The weather was semi co-operative with us. We had lots of fun. Hiked our butts off, literally. Did you know that heavy snow with snow shoes on is like strapping a shovel to your foot and then lifting it up over and over again? Now you do. Try it some time. It's better than lunges....

Winter Camping

The temperature was 15 degrees. The perfect temp to test our survival skills. We started with an old fallen tree and built a shelter. Then we built a fire and roasted potatoes and hotdogs for supper. Of course, we ate some chocolate to keep us warm and then snuggled in for a warm winters night.
